It’s rare for the same master to do an apprentice’s Interview and his Calling. There are many reasons why it is more appropriate. However, I really felt a connection with Zac. When the master assigned to his Calling had to cancel due to a minor health problem, I jumped at the chance to take his place. Zac expressed his happiness in seeing me again. That was reassuring. Obviously, he had passed the Interview, and he had come back. Those things did not necessarily reflect his feelings toward me, though. That was one of the reasons to have different men. These trials and initiations shouldn’t become personal.

It was a beautiful day outside, the sun casting its glow down across the reflection of the water in the pool, the slightest of breezes drifting through. One of the perks to this house was that everybody had access to the pool. It was not one of the amenities I had strict rules around necessarily. With most of the bedrooms having sliding doors opening up into the backyard, it seemed that all of my guests would inevitably end up taking a dip.

Another one of the perks to having those doors leading to the backyard is the fact that it also allows me to keep an eye on who is currently hanging out in the pool area. I admit that it’s convenient to have the ability to cruise within my own living quarters. Anybody who knows me would not be surprised by the type of company I keep, as I tend to have a specific type I go for.

Grayson Cole is a nice boy. I have to admit I’m going to have to be careful not to let him get under my skin. I’m the COO, and he’s one of my models. Scout Marcus and I have grown very close, maybe closer than we should be. It all started when we went on a camping trip and had an odd number of scouts. The boys sleep two to a tent, but the scoutmasters have their own space. If there is an odd number, one of the scouts has to share with a scoutmaster. We draw straws to see which of us gets a scout for the weekend. The scouts understand that bunking with the scoutmaster means more than sharing a tent.
