I just think that people might consider twice before giving to a HIV fundraiser if they knew how mainstream the Treasure Island Media types of behavior have become in the gay “community” in first world countries, and how even gay people can’t say anything against it because they are labeled “condom nazis” or whatever else if they do.

I usually agree with you manu but characterising gay men as bug-chasers IS homophobic. You are massively exaggerating the number of people who are deliberately seeking to get HIV. People are guilty of careless sexual behaviour across the board, whether gay or straight, for a number of reasons, not least being that HIV is nowhere near as visible or immediately affecting to younger people as it was in the past. I think the proliferation of bb porn encourages that carelessness too, but it’s drawing way too long a bow to say the mainstream gay community is made up of bug-chasers just because more people watch bb now. You’re pathologising gay sexuality the same way fundamentalist christians do.
