That is so stupid!! I can’t even say how I feel. Why would anybody chose to be unhealthy and live a life depending on a massive amount of medication for now on?! Being healthy and free is everything we need and when we lose those things we’re DONE for good.

Kent I believe the words big Pharma use are “most effective” when used with other safer sex practices. So please some intellectual honesty. The treatment alone is as effective as playing Russian roulette with a mythical 12 shot revolver. But it might change the thinking on sero-selecting partners IE using perp along with safer sex practices.
But isn’t one of the on label uses for perp so women can get pregnant from the pos male partners so the condom kinda hinders the goal.

Billy’s right. Kent is completely distorting things. It’s not as if the pharmacological action of Truvada ceases when there is no condom (“it only works…”). Let’s be reality-based and not ideology-based, shall we? This otter guy is making his own decision about an acceptable level of risk. At least he’s thinking about it. Lots of people aren’t. I’d rather have people barebacking WITH PrEP than without. Every possible tool should be available for people in preventing infection. Insisting that everyone stick only to condoms is a fool’s errand. Read the data. Lots of bareback is happening.

Appreciate your viewpoint but you’re just playing semantics. PrEP is intended to be used in combination with safe sex practices…period. That’s the honest truth. Trying to parse the words might instill doubt in someone who doesn’t understand the consequences clearly and is, I think, a dangerous thing to do.

Stupidity is not a public health hazard. Millions could and probably are engaging in bareback gay sex and it doesn’t affect me. No-one else is responsible for the thinking of other individuals. Even if someone is acting in a professional advisory capacity they can only be at fault if they deliberately mislead. Pretending you have a say in how someone else has sex (with condoms) is equivalent to those saying sodomy is wrong. Since its a personal choice to engage in bareback sex its all about taking responsibility for your own health. Everyone will fall somewhere along a broad spectrum with extremes at both ends, regardless of how much hand-wringing is done.
