George Duroy, the founder of BEL AMI has given Towleroad blog an in-depth interview. This is a “must read”. He talked about bareback, Peters Twins, controversy, future of gay porn and much more. Below are some quotes from this lengthy interview.
“Gay” porn was never dominated by gay models, and in the case of Bel Ami, not even half of the employees are gay. (In the last three years, we had seven babies born to our employees.) Gay porn should be more accurately called “all-male porn”. I don’t see this necessarily as a cultural difference—most of the models working for Corbin Fisher or Sean Cody are straight as well. I know some gay models in the U.S. who claimed to be straight to get a job with some of the American Studios.
Many of our boys are university students and come from regular, middle-class families. And quite a few are bright. For example, Mark Aubrey is our lawyer while Claude Cocteau built and runs our Web site. Dolph Lambert will get his I.T. degree soon, and Luke Hamill (pictured above fucking Keanu Faria) has one more year to go to get his degree in management.
In September, we will send a number of models for intense language courses to Cape Town so we can start to shoot with them in English.
Bel Ami is the only company in this business which (in seventeen years) hasn’t had a single case of ANY STD on the set.

I am unaware of a single case of somebody paying for my films simply because I was promoting safe sex. But I got a lot of hate mail for being “vanilla” and “boring”.

You know, to be honest, most of the women in straight porn are straight yet most of these film feature plenty of girl-on-girl sex scenes. “Over there” people just say it’s hot. “Over here”, people mostly bitch. I beleive about 50% about what Mr Duray claims. I think he should talk only about his country and his studio and not make broad assumptions about other Studios, other countries. As for the statement about having babies. I know many gay guys that have children. I also know that their guys that swear that they are straight but have sex with guys and have profiles on gay “dating” sites. I am sure there many straight guyss in porn and plenty of gay guys, It really should be about the quality of the guy and end product.
As for Colt I am not surprised about the bankruptcy they are using a very old business model. They still rely on releasing a few high quality films a year through its Buckshots, Colt, and Olympis brans. Most studios now release short 20-30 minute scenes frequenlty online to keep interest in their studio. I also think that COlt lately has attrition of some of thier biggest names and have not done much to replace the absence of stars like Luke Carret, Chris Wide, Sky Woods,. SOme of the guys there are bring in are not even muscle guys. In the last film there where only one scene with big muscle guys having sex.. Nate Karlton and Gage Weston. WTF Carlo Masi has bottomed in years.

Read the Duroy interview. Must’ve been a very slow day for Towleroad. Most of the questions are pretty lame, and even with a fawning air. The “harder” questions are the typical ones we would expect. In all, Duroy gets off easily, and most of what he states sounds fabricated. Again, why was this news?

Some of the comments were interesting. I agreed with the fact that even in this interview Duroy is still selling a fantasy/product. Before it was almost none of the bel ami models were gay now it’s less then 50%. He contradicts himself when he says that his models aren’t gay then says but how can you call yourself straight if you are enjoying having sex with another man.
Also the “I know some American models claim they are straight so they can get work from the studios” was something that a lot of us already knew but sad at the same time.
You wonder what is going to happen to those twins after their porn careers are over with. Their parents and family have disowned them. Duroy says that being gay is no longer taboo. There is a lot of homophobia where a lot of his models come from.
