My guess is that the production people didn’t think the tattoo was a problem. If they had, they could have easily filmed him in a way that the tattoo wasn’t visible. (Always from the left or the right, for example.) They used that trick when Kaleb a scooter accident the day before he filmed one of his scenes.
Once the footage got to the MindGeek office, someone wisely realized that the tattoo was actually a problem. Unfortunately, they weren’t wise enough to just ditch the scenes completely.
