Thanks to Chip, one of my readers, for letting me know about this sad news. According to the obituary, former gay porn star Shane Erickson passed away at the age of 38 back in September 26, 2023. His boyfriend who found the body wrote this message on GoFundMe:
A week ago after searching for him for two days I finally found him… unresponsive and long beyond aid on the floor of a hotel room. We don’t have any real answers yet as to what happened, but Im now tasked with pulling it together enough to write this to please ask for assistance in the costs of his cremation etc… I don’t even know what to say, he had been struggling for a long time with demons from his past. I did everything I could to be there for him and I couldn’t save him…
I also found this article he wrote in 2015 titled “I Killed Shane Erickson” My Own Step Out Story. This is too sad. My condolences to his friends and family.

it’s always sad to hear of a death in such sad circumstances, but Shane was a favourite of mine when I first started exploring my sexuality, and I was captivated by his long, lean, figure, big personality, and powerful cumshots. Death is tragic regardless. Drug abuse is serious and sad. Happy people don’t choose drugs for fun. They use it to mask their pain and sadness.

The industry and the consumers are to blame for this. We all like watching the young guys in porn but once they get older, they are cast away. People don’t care about the mental well being of the performers.

Eric (Shane) was a porn crush of mine, and he was a talented photographer and creative soul. It was so sad to hear this news last fall. I’m sorry to hear that he spiraled down into self-destructive drug use and lost his life in this way.

Isn’t it interesting the article doesn’t mention what the cause of death was? What else would it be? Young, otherwise healthy people don’t just drop dead, or collapse like that, with the exception of perhaps it being a Covid shot or a heart attack.
